Spring Break College Trip 2010

For spring break, some buddies and I decided to take a little road trip to a couple of colleges that we got accepted to. Unfortunately, the trip ended up with only Henry and I. Miguel Gonzales and Man Le catted out on the last minute so it was only me and Henry having some broski bonding time, no homo! I was pretty glad that Henry knew how to drive manual so I wasn't stuck behind the wheel all day.

The trip started out a bit sketchy, after picking up Henry, we were on our way towards the gas station when it started hailing outta nowhere. I lost traction so we parked under a tree watching in awe. It eventually stopped and we laughed it off, for a quick minute I thought that we had to cancel. We drove down a couple blocks and passed by a house that literally got blasted by gunshots. There was a few squad cars, caution tape, and evidence markers around several bullet holes in the house. We were too shocked to take pictures, what a pity.

Our first stop was UC Santa Cruz, it was better than we both expected and our hosts/ tour guides were very welcoming. Susan Sultan and Tina Dzebic were more than happy to show us around. They took us around the different colleges/dorms/apartments and Susan even got me food! There were trees everywhere... We chilled there for awhile before leaving for socal.

The next stop was UC Santa Barbara. Daneri Serrano was our hook up here. He met us in the parking lot and he was our host for our stay down there. My dumbass locked the keys in the car after we parked so I had to call the tow truck. Henry and I waited for an hour and a half. Dan took us to his dorm and that was where we stayed until Wednesday. He and his roommate Luis were hella chill while we were there. One thing that I learned was that UCSB is a bike school, there's bikes everywhere, I even got ran into when crossing the street. That's something that I will eventually get used to. The campus is fucking beautiful and the weather was great. Most def at the top of my list now.

Wednesday was our last morning in UCSB. Me and Henry left in the late morning and headed out towards our last stop, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. On the way there we made a quick stop to Avila Beach, Mr. Branch told us that it was beautiful and he didn't lie. Unfortunately, Cal Poly SLO was a bit of a disappointment. Maybe it was because we didn't have a tour guide or people were in class but the campus seemed hella dead and quiet. The architecture was nice but it seemed boring. We wandered around for about an hour then headed home.

Overall it was a great trip, we experienced stuff that most campus tours or spring insights wouldn't show and we had a lot of fun. Much thanks to everyone who showed us a great time! We really appreciate it! =]

HAIL.

  1. Aw, looks like you two had fun! :] Wow, there really are a lot of bikes at Santa Barbara, but the beach looks great! So, still deciding where you want to attend? Did this trip help?
